Sport England has announced a funding support package, totalling up to £195 million to help the sport and physical activity sector, including:
- A new £20 million Community Emergency Fund, which is open now for local club and community organisations facing short-term financial hardship, to bid for grants between £300 and £10,000. Any not-for-profit organisation delivering community sport and physical activity and experiencing short-term financial hardship or the ceasing of operations due to the impact of coronavirus/COVID-19 can apply for a grant of between £300 and £10,000 to help them meet their costs before the end of July 2020 . Priority will be given to organisations that work with under-represented groups.
- Organisations have until 31 July 2020 to apply for the fund, but should the situations change, Sport England will continue to review whether organisations applying should receive ‘top-up’ awards.
- All applications are reviewed against a set of criteria and the role that the organisations play in delivering activity and will prioritise organisations providing services to those in disadvantaged areas and for organisations consisting of self-employed workers who are not protected by other funding.
